Sachin Tendulkar, two weeks short of completing his two decades in international cricket, scored a brilliant 175 as he crossed his personal milestone of 17,000 ODI runs in the fourth One-Day International against Australia here Thursday.

Test umpire David Shepherd past away at 68

Former England umpire David Shepherd died after a long battle with cancer. He was 68.

Shepherd, a legendary international umpire, stood in 172 ODIs, three consecutive World Cup finals, and 92 Test matches from 1983 to 2005.

Bhaichung Bhutia signs for East Bengal

After getting an interim relief from the All India Football Federation (AIFF), national captain Bhaichung Bhutia signed for East Bengal here Wednesday.

Bhutia will play in East Bengal’s away match against Pune Football Club in the first round of the I-League Saturday.

Sania Mirza in Japan Open Tennis Quarterfinals

Sania MirzaIndian Sania Mirza defeated Viktoriya Kutuzova in straight sets 6-4 6-3 to become the first player to reach the quarter-finals of the HP Open in Japan.

The 22-year-old, ranked 61st in the world, took advantage of a series of double faults from Ukrainian Kutuzova to secure her place in the last eight in Osaka.

Younis Khan decides to resign as Pakistan Captain

Looks like Pakistan will be appointing yet another Captain in the coming days following reports that Younis Khan has almost given his resignation from the post. Younis Khan has been facing pressure from the top politicians of Pakistan after his team’s unexpected defeat to New Zealand in the Champions Trophy Semi Final.
